St. Joseph’s enrolment
Enrolment of junior infants children for September 2006 at Davitt Road will take place on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, January 23, 24 and 25 from 1-3 pm.
Please bring your child’s birth certificate, baptismal certificate, PPS No., a small photograph and immunisation card.
Information Evening
In Mountmellick CS on Monday, January 30, at 7.30pm. The evening is for parents/guardians of children who wish to be enrolled as first years in September 2006. Enrolment and assessment testing for all the students involved will take place on Saturday, February 4, from 9am to noon.
Community Care
The annual Christmas party will be held on Sunday, January 22, in the Hazel Hotel. The cost is €20 per person. The bus will be leaving the square at 1pm sharp on Sunday, January 22.
Bridge
Has resumed on Thursday nights in the town hall following the break.
Recycling & St. Joseph’s GNS
St. Joseph’s GNS are recycling Christmas cards, stamps and batteries. Please send these items in to school now. The school is also starting a new initiative where they will collect and organize the recycling of printer and toner cartridges. Some of them will help the Jack & Jill Foundation and some will be recycled locally at Cartridge World in Portlaoise, for these the school will receive €1 per cartridge.
The school are also recycling mobile phones in aid of the Jack & Jill Foundation as St. Joseph’s GNS is now entering its sixth year on the Green School programme and is also in the process of applying for the fourth Green Flag.
Gun Club
Results of the Christmas clay shoot were as follows - 1 Sam Gorman, 2 Shane McEvoy, 3 Tom Flanagan. The winner of the Ernie Graham perpetual memorial trophy was Ray Murphy. The club thank all who supported this clay shoot.
Charity Shop
The Charity Shop in Parnell Street will be open each week on Thursdays from 10am to 3pm.
Grow Group
A Grow Group meets each week in Mountmellick. If you are someone who experiences depression or anxiety attacks or who is simply in need of company you are welcome to come along. You will have the opportunity to meet others, share your problems in confidence, get support and make new friends. All are welcome. Meetings take place in the MDA, Irishtown, at 3 pm on Monday. Jazz Ballet Classes
Classes are held every Wednesday in Mountmellick Macra Hall - under 10s from 5-6pm and 10 years and over from 6-7pm. Contact Michelle for details.
Money Advice
MABS, the money advice and budgeting service, will be running an outreach service at MDA on the first Thursday of every month from 10am to 12.30pm. No appointments needed.
Laois Citizens Information Service
Is in attendance every Wednesday at MDA, Irishtown from 10am to noon or may be contacted at the Portlaoise office. Anyone who would like help with tax problems, social welfare entitlements, health, housing, or any related problem are welcome to attend.
