Childcare centre open day
Mountmellick Childcare Centre, Sonas, located at MDA, Irishtown, is holding an open day on Sunday, May 23 from 2-6 pm.
All parents and children are welcome to come and view the centre and meet the staff.
Writing Workshop
A writing workshop is being held on Saturday and Sunday, May 22 and 23 with award winning short story writer and Ballykissangel scriptwriter Ursula Aspel de Bruin. The cost of this workshop is 80 with a bursary available. For details please contact Paula Dempsey at the Mountemllick Museum
Jumble Sale
A jumble sale in aid of the Owenass Hall from 3-6 pm. Items are urgently needed for this sale and may be left into 51 Harbour St.
Comhaltas
Classes continue every Tuesday evening as everyone prepares for the Laois Fleadh to be held on Sunday, June 6 in Mountmellick Community School. All entries must be with the secretary by Friday, May 14. Non members wishing to enter competitions should contact the Fleadh secretary, Margaret Culliton at (0502) 44941 as soon as possible for entry forms. Grupai ceoil, U12 and U15 will have practice sessions every Sunday from 8-9 pm in the GAA Centre.
Castlebrack Cemetery
The Rosary will be recited in Castlebrack Cemetery on Sunday evenings at 7 pm during the month of May. Everyone is welcome along.
Laois Citizens Information Service
The above is in attendance every Wednesday at MDA Irishtown from 10 am to noon or else may be contacted at the Portlaoise office at (0502) 21425. Anyone would would like help with tax problems, social welfare entitlements, health, housing, or any related problem are welcome to attend.
ICA
The Federation AGM is being held in the Community Centre in Rosenallis on Wednesday, May 19. The charity for the year is Kolbe House. The council meeting will be in the Heritage Hotel, on Saturday, May 29.
Grow Group
A Grow Group meets every week in Mountmellick. If you are someone who experienced depression or anxiety attacks or who is simply in need of company do come along. You will have an opportunity to meet others, share your problems in confidence, get support and make new friends. All are welcome. Meetings take place in the MDA, Irishtown at 3 pm every Monday.
