Mountmellick Museum
Mountmellick Museum will be open daily throughout August from 2-5 pm (including Wednesdays). Demonstrations of Mountmellick Work (embroidery) will be given throughout the month. Entry fee for adults 3, children U16 free of charge, for more information contact Mountmellick Museum MDA.
Grow Group
A Grow Group meets each week in Mountmellick. If you are someone who experiences depression or anxiety attacks or who is simply in need of company do come along. You will have an opportunity to meet others, share your problems in confidence, get support and make new friends. All are welcome. Meetings take place at the MDA, Irishtown, at 3 pm every Monday. Laois Citizens Information Service
The above is in attendance every Wednesday at MDA Irishtown from 10 am to noon or else may be contacted at the Portlaoise office. Anyone who would like help with tax problems, social welfare, health, housing or any related problem are welcome to attend.
Jazz Ballet Dance Class
The above classes are being held every Wednesday in Mountmellick Macra Hall. U10’s from 5-6 pm and 10 yrs and over from 6-7 pm. Contact Michelle for details.

Busy Bees is open throughout the summer for both morning and afternoon sessions for children aged from 2 years upwards.

Knock Pilgrimage
Our Lady’s Sewing Guild’s pilgrimage to Knock takes place on Sunday, August 29.
Graigue Cemetery Mass
The above will be held on Friday, August 29 at 7.30 pm. There will be no 7.30 pm Mass in St. Joseph’s Church that evening. All welcome to Mass at Graigue Cemetery.

Evening Classes
Autumn is drawing nearer and with the start of the new school year, Laois VEC had published the brochure for this year’s evening classes. In Mountmellick’s Further Education Centre located in the old VEC school in Harbour Street (opposite Turley’s) there will be six courses available.
The subjects, duration and costs are-information technology (20 hrs 80); woodwork (20 hrs 80); early childhood education FETAC level 2 (40 hrs 160); child development FETAC level 2 (40 hrs 160); caring for children FETAC level 2 (35 hrs 140); early childhood programmed FETAC level 2 (40 hrs 160).
Enrolment takes place on Monday, September 20 from 7.30-9.30 pm. The co-ordinator is Ms P. Cullen. There are other courses available in Portlaoise, Portarlington, Rathdowney, Clonaslee and Laois School of Music. Details of these are available from Laois VEC at Ridge Road, Portlaoise.
