A jumble sale in aid of the Christina Noble Children’s 100k walk is being held on Sunday, May 23, in the Owenass Hall. Items are urgently needed for this sale and may be left into 51 Harbour Street.

Childcare
The Laois County Childcare committee are holding a two day course which would be of interest to all those caring for children, parents, grandparents and childminders. It is being held on Saturday, May 22 and Saturday, May 29. There are no fees but places must be booked .
This is a quality aware-ness course covering the role of the childminder, nutrition and healthy eating, health and safety in the home, the importance of play, good practice and procedures.
The Rock GAA
The Rock senior team had a very good win over St. Joseph’s in round 2 of the senior championship on Saturday evening, May 1 in O’Moore Park. After a good first half The Rock led 0-6 to 0-5. However it was in the second half that The Rock really played their best football and after a great early goal by Paul Dunne they never looked back, eventually winning on a score line of 1-14 to 0-11.

The junior team, with a very young side, were defeated last week in an away game to Barrowhouse in Division 3.
The club is hosting a presentation night in Turley’s Bar on Friday, May 21 with all proceeds to People In Need Telethon. All are welcome along.
