Tennis and multi-sport camps

Mountmellick Tennis Club is holding tennis and multi-sport camps for ages 4 to 16 years on July 1 to 16 and August 16 to 20.

The participants will be divided into three age groups 4-6 years, 6-12 years and 12-16 years. The camp activities will include tennis coaching, team sports, co-ordination games, obstacle courses, fit kids circuits, tennis tournaments and multi sports tournaments. U-12 Football League Division 1

Mountmellick were too strong for Stradbally Gaels in Acragar on Friday evening, June 25 in their last league game of the season. All play-ers contributed to a fine team performance with fantastic score on the night. The team are now looking forward to the first round of the championship.

Summer Camp

A summer camp commences on Monday July 5th at Naíonra Áine, Garoon, Mountmellick and continues throughout the summer. The camp is available to children aged three to seven years, from 10am to 3pm, Monday to Friday. For further information please contact Mary Culleton.

Grow Group

A Grow Group meets each week in Mountmellick. If you are someone who experienced depression or anxiety attacks or who is simply in need of company do come along.

You will have an opportunity to meet others, share your problems in confidence, get support and make new friends. All are welcome.

Meetings take place in the MDA, Irishtown at 3pm every Monday. For further information please contact Harriet.

Laois Citizens Information Service

The above is in attendance every Wednesday at MDA Irishtown from 10am to noon or else may be contacted at the Portlaoise office.

Anyone who would like help with tax problems, social welfare entitlements, health, housing or any related problem are welcome to attend.

Mountmellick Juvenile Soccer

Training for all girls under 9 takes place in Smith’s field on Tuesday evenings at 6pm. All under 9 girls are welcome along.

Mountmellick Active Retirement: The above group went on a lovely outing on June 15 last. A group of 45 went to Dundalk, spent about four hours there and had a lovely dinner in the Imperial Hotel and they had even reserved a space by the side of the hotel for the bus.

The group left Dundalk and then went to Newry, spent a while there and then onto Carlington, it was beautiful there. The group had tea and sandwiches there.

The retirement group’s own musician Bill had his accordion and he played and all had a sing song on the way home. A most enjoyable day was had by all, not a complaint from any one of 45.

Jazz Ballet Dance Class

The above classes are being held every Wednesday in Mountmellick Macra Hall. Under 10s from 5pm to 5pm years and 10 years and over from 6pm to 7pm. Contact Michelle for details.

Lourdes

Final payments are now due on the parish pilgrimage to Lourdes, taking place from August 13 to August 18. A small number of seats are still available.
