Credit Union awards night

Mountmellick Credit Union welcomed all prize winners and their parents to their annual awards ceremony on Thursday night last, December 11 in the Concert Hall. Manager Michael Feeley opened the proceedings, thanking all who entered the competition, welcoming the attendance and congratulating the prize winners. Mary T. Culleton then presented the awards.

Laois Citizens Information Service

The above is in attendance every Wednesday at MDA Irishtown from 10am to noon or else may be contacted at the Portlaoise office. Anyone who would like help with tax problems, social welfare entitlements, health, housing or any related problem are welcome to attend.

Grow Group

A Grow Group meets each week in Mountmellick. If you are someone who experienced depression or anxiety attacks, or who is simply in need of company do come along.

You will have an opportunity to meet others, share your problems in confidence, get support and make new friends. All are welcome. Meetings take place in the MDA, Irishtown at 3pm every Monday. For further information please contact Harriet.

Sympathy

The news of the death of Mrs. Esther Lawlor (nee Kane) of 3 Twomey Park on Friday, December 13 at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Mountmellick occasioned much sadness. A much liked and respected woman, Esther will be most sadly missed by all who knew her. Esther was pre-deceased by her husband Thomas.

Removal from St. Vincent’s Chapel of Repose to St. Joseph’s Church took place on Saturday evening. Requiem Mass was celebrated on Sunday at noon with burial afterwards to St. Joseph’s cemetery.

Esther is mourned by her daughter Margaret (Coss), her brother Michael (Kane), her grandchildren, great grandchildren, family, relatives and friends to whom the sincere sympathy of the community is extended on their bereavement.
