Mountmellick Community School
Students, teachers, parents and friends gathered in Mountmellick Community School on Thursday night, September 25 for the official opening of the school’s annual exhibition. Laois County Arts Officer Muireann ni Chonaill declared the exhibition opened and spoke of her great pleasure at seeing the wealth of talent so evident all around the exhibition hall.
There were exhibits from many areas including woodwork, art, crafts, metalwork and science from first year up to fifth year. A very topical exhibit stood just inside the entrance-the green schools stand. This is environmental awareness week and the green committee in the school are working towards achieving a green flag for the school. A video detailing their work over the past school year was on view also. The exhibition was open the following day to the public and to the students from the primary schools to give them a foretaste of school work in post primary.
