Eurovision in town
The students of Mountmellick Community School are bringing Eurovision to the town on Thursday night, December 4.
They present the 46th and a half Eurovision at 7.30pm in the school hall. Admission: Adults 6 and children under-12 3. This will be a night of music, song, dance and, most importantly, lots of laughter.
The presenters, Lorraine Curham and Adrian McEvoy, will introduce many favourite faces including Cliff Richard, Mickey Joe Harte, Abba, Bucks Fizz, Fr. Ted and Friends, including a special “friend” Phoebe, Johnny Logan and many more and also a magnificent performance from the Riverdance troupe.
The students and their mentors, Ms. Kerry, Ms O’Mahony and Ms Leonard, have been busy for months preparing for this one-off event. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the stars of stage and TV in your own town, don’t miss it.
Christmas Concert
A Christmas concert is being held in St. Vincent’s Hospital on Sunday, December 7, at 8pm. This festive occasion features Dr. Larry Fullam and the Portarlington Singers. Proceeds in aid of St. Vincent’s Hospital Patients Benefit Fund. Cheese and wine will be served at the interval. Admission, 10. Tickets available from the hospital.
St. Vincent De Paul
The St. Vincent de Paul churchgate collection takes place on Saturday and Sunday, December 6 and 7, at all Masses. Please give generously to this appeal.
Bingo
All those interested in testing their luck are welcome to the parish bingo each Sunday night in the Owenass hall at 8.30pm.
Mother and Toddler Group
The mother and toddler group meets each Thursday at 10am in the Methodist hall (at rear of Methodist Church). Parents and toddlers welcome.
Set Dancing
For the winter months continues in St. Mary’s hall, Clonaghadoo, on Wednesday nights at 8.30pm. Beginners and experienced dancers welcome. Tutor, Maureen Culliton.
Step dancing with Maureen on Thursday nights in the ICA hall, Davitt Road. All are welcome.
