U 21 Football
Mountmellick's footballers had to put their disappointment of last week behind them and take the field in the U 21 championship against the Harps on Saturday.
Fielding a young team minus some of their intermediate players, Mountmellick started slowly but after a scoring spree they led by 1-10 to 0-5. The second half was led to a glut of goals with the Harps coming back into the game. To their credit, the town lads held out for a good win by 4-14 to 4-8. They now play the winners of The Heath and O'Dempsey's.
Scorers: Robert Hibbits 2-1, Jarelath Challoner 1-2, Michael Ennis 1-2, Darragh Hanlon 0-4, Donnacha O'Mahony 0-2, Paddy Gorry 0-2, Noel Dunne 0-1.

Mountmellick Rovers
Frankford 3, Mountmellick 8.
Mountmellick Rovers put on a brilliant display despite going down one nil down after five minutes. Two goals from James Quigley gave Mountmellick back the lead. But a great performance from Steven Burke scoring four goals made sure all three points for Mountmellick. Two more great goals from Jonathon Allen and David Kelly ensured a Mountmellick. It was a great performance.
