Mountmellick PEP Presentation Day

Mountmellick Pre Employment Programme is a joint venture between MDASI, FAS and VEC.

The programme is designed to prepare long term unemployed people who left mainstream education at an early age for reintroduction into subsequent training for the workplace. There are twelve participants on the current programme and it covers a wide range of subjects including Literacy, Computer Skills, Personal Development, Arts & Crafts, Work Experience and First Aid. The Jobs Club run by FAS was a major contribution to the success of the course. Friday saw the culmination on the hard work and dedication which both the participants and the tutors brought to the programme with an exhibition of the work completed.

Many local businesses such as C&D Sewing, Shaws, Nora's Cake Shop, The Corner Shop, The Mill Restaurant, St Josephs GNS, St Pauls National School and Mountmellick Community School provided the work experience for the students. Many thanks to all involved.

Certificates were presented by Mr. Jerry Johnson, (FAS) and Mr. Larry Kavanagh (VEC). The recipients were Louise Walsh, Caroline Nicholson, Siobhain Clinton, Ann Conroy, Michelle O' Callaghan, Liz Kelly, Anne Dalton, Mary Touhy, Eileen Touhy, Margaret Nevin, Tina McInerney and Eileen McInerney.
