Mavericks M.C.C.

The Mavericks Motorcycle Club was established in June 2000. A small group of individuals who had an interest in all things to do with motorcycling held their first meeting in Horans Bar, Mountmellick. Since then the club has grown to over seventy members from Carlow, Timahoe, Mountrath, Abbeyleix, Stradbally, Athy, Portlaoise, Portarlington and of course Mountmellick.

The Club is affiliated to the Motorcycle Action Group of Ireland (MAG Ireland) and has its own constitution and democratically elected committee consisting of: President Barry Carroll, Secretary Richard Murphy, Treasurer Bryan Payne, P.R.O. Tony Kirwan, Sergeant at Arms Charlie O Neill, Assistant Treasurer Kevin Doyle, Assistant Secretary Luke Mc Redmond, and Assistant P.R.O. Jim Heffernan.

The Mavericks meet twice monthly and have a weekly run every Sunday morning leaving Grahams Filling Station, Mountmellick at 10.30am. The club is keenly interested in promoting motorcycling safety and awareness. They are also involved in various fund raising activities and so far have managed to raise over €3800 for a number of charitable causes.

Membership forms are available at any club meeting at the clubhouse, Horans bar, Mountmellick. Anyone interested in buying or selling a motorcycle, or looking for friendly advice on motorcycling matters should contact any of the club members. They would be only too happy to help.
