Irish Traditional Embroidery is a highly illustrated and easy to follow book for that caters for both the beginner and the skilled embroiderer written by an Irish teacher of the craft.

The book covers a craft with growing worldwide interest from the actual embroidery through to the care of the finished work and is divided into four main sections:

4. Finishing Techniques

Irish Traditional Embroidery examines the art of embroidery and more specifically the type started in the small County Laois town of Mountmellick.

Author Information
Sandra Counahan was educated in both Northern Ireland and England and qualified as a nurse in 1966. Her mother, a needlewoman, taught her colour embroidery when she was a small child and she continued to do needlework and crochet throughout her adult life. In 1990 she met Sister Teresa Margaret McCarthy, the reviver of Mountmellick Work, and had her first lesson with her. Since then, she has continued to hone her technique and has given classes in Ireland, Australia and the US.
