Author Information
Sandra Counahan was educated in both Northern Ireland and England and qualified
as a nurse in 1966. Her mother, a needlewoman, taught her colour embroidery
when she was a small child and she continued to do needlework and crochet
throughout her adult life. In 1990 she met Sister Teresa Margaret McCarthy,
the reviver of Mountmellick Work, and had her first lesson with her. Since
then, she has continued to hone her technique and has given classes in Ireland,
Australia and the US.
